I ordered this book as a companion to my fourth-year Cardiology elective and it was hugely helpful! Although slightly less in-depth than I would like, it does an excellent job of explaining cardiac pathophysiology. Coronary heart disease treatment Explanations are concise, easily understood, relatively complete, and written in an easy, conversational style. Heart with heart disease I think this book is likely geared best towards students in their first two years, but still taught me some new things and helped reinforce my understanding of cardiac diseases.

If there is one book you should read cover-to-cover as a preclinical medical student, it’s this book. Early symptoms of heart disease I don’t care how your curriculum is set up, but when you are studying heart disease, this is the book you should have and it should be your chief source. Rheumatic heart disease case study Hopefully your school knows how awesome this book is and has it listed as the required reading for your cardio block.

This is, hands-down, the best textbook I have read in medical school. Risk factors for heart disease It goes into just enough depth with the concepts without diving too deeply into physiology that isn’t important or practical. Rheumatic heart disease causes It is comprehensive enough that you don’t need any other source, really, when studying cardiovascular pathophysiology. Coronary heart disease results from The chapter on EKGs is probably the only exception, because Dubin’s book is superior and more idiot-proof. Congenital heart disease baby But overall, you will be a rock star if you read this thing cover-to-cover. Rheumatic heart disease diagnosis It also sets up a tremendously strong foundation of knowledge for when you later hunker down to study for Step 1. Risk factors for coronary heart disease A good understanding of the principles laid out in this book virtually ensures a strong performance on cardiology that will appear on Step 1.

Aside from the terrific content, the layout is nice, and it is very readable. Symptoms of heart disease in child So many useful diagrams and pictures.

So, in summation, if you are a preclinical med student, buy this book and read it. Ischemic heart disease treatment drugs It’s amazing.

I bought this book because I felt like I didn’t really understand what exactly the different heart diseases were about (how they they arise, how they can be determined clinically and how they can be managed) from lectures and class notes. Coronary heart disease risk And I was very impressed with how this book filled in those gaps and much more. Child heart disease In general, a chapter is broken down to the physiology, pathophysiology and finally treatment/management of a particular disease process such as Hypertension or Heart Failure. Right coronary artery disease It does an EXCELLENT job of explaining heart sounds and ECGs particularly because each of these topics have an introductory chapter discussing the fundamental concepts and an additional chapter or two on the various disease processes. Coronary heart disease coronary artery disease For instance, there’s a chapter on the basics of ECGs, a second chapter devoted to how arrhythmias form, and another on the clinically important arrhythmias.

This book however, isn’t going to help with pathology but it I don’t think it’s meant to.

Bottom line: if you aren’t satisfied with the way cardiovascular physiology is taught in school get this!

As a medical student i try to avoid reading most academic books and stick to lecture powerpoints. Chf heart disease However, this is one of the best medical books I have purchased and don’t regret it all. As heart disease Some chapters are better than others but this book really manages to talk about some tricky material in a really clear manner. Coronary heart disease death They don’t try to overcomplicate things at all which other textbooks and many professors love to do.

I am a Cath Lab Tech, cross trained from a radiologic technology background. Ischemic heart disease medscape I chose this book to learn the pathophysiological reasoning for the things we do in the Cath lab. Symptoms for heart disease It is plenty in depth for me, but nothing over my head. Heart disease in the us I believe this book was key to me having a very easy time with the online RCIS Review course through Spokane Community College and was a big part of why I scored 94% on the RCIS exam.

Hands-down one of the best textbooks I have ever read! The explanations of pathophysiology and associated clinical exam findings are easy to understand without unnecessary length or overwhelming detail. Congenital heart disease medications It also comes with a free ebook on the Inkling app that is very user-friendly. Rheumatic heart disease pictures I will be keeping this book forever. Ischemic heart disease diagnosis You won’t regret buying this textbook.

I originally bought this for my cardiology block during MS2. Heart disease fact This was an amazing book that covered just about everything I needed to know about cardiology, but also provided the basic science and mechanisms of the disease process. Women and heart disease It was a relatively easy read. Congenital heart disease awareness I love this book because I didn’t really have to memorize everything anymore; once I picked up on the logic of how the heart works and what can go wrong, you can figure out just about everything from that. How can you get heart disease The one issue I have is that the coverage of ECGs was more limited than I had wanted. Cholesterol heart disease I would Rapid Interpretations of ECGs by Dale Dubin for that.

I also used this during my acute coronary block during MS3, which was extremely helpful. Heart disease risk factors Certainly, doesn’t provide all the treatment regimens like specific doses, but it provided me with a very good understanding of the mechanisms and also helped me a lot with some of the more obscure pimping questions.
